私の所有する、Mac 128Kのシステムフォルダーは６個のファイルで構成。

主要コンポーネントはSystemとFinderのみ。

System １.0の入った400kBフロッピーディスクは、それでも100kBの空き容量がある。

System 1.0のメニュー(Special)にはリスタートやシャットダウンが存在しない。

Specialから選択可能なのは、Clean Up, Empty Trash, Erase Disk, Set Startupの４つだけだ。

HDDが搭載されていないMac 128k, Mac 512k, Mac Plusでは当然といえば当然なのだが。

At the time; there was only 400k- single sided disks, no hard drives or double sided drives. The system, and related applications all fit onto 400K of disk space. For faster Disk I/O, many Mac Users bought the external second disk drives for their systems.

System １.0は400KB-FD一枚で起動。当然Systemのみでフロッピーはかなりの容量を占める。アプリケーションソフトを快適に使用するには、もう一台、外付けの用の400KB-FDを購入しなければならない。

しかし、Appleの開発スタッフの手になる純正ゲーム（Alice-Through the Looking Glass）は400kのフロッピーディスク一枚を差し込むだけで楽しめた。

1984年1月24日AppleがMacintosh(GUIを採用)を発表するやいなや、

マイクロソフト社はGUIの革新性（すぐれた操作性）を最大限に引き出した表計算ソフトMicrosoft Excel（Mac版）をアナウンス。

1985年には、Microsoft Excel Ver.1を発売。

マウスを使った、操作感覚は現在のそれとほとんど変わりがない。

コマンド命令による、DOS-Vパソコンとは操作感覚において、雲泥の差がある。

Mac 128k（外付け400K-FDも使用）でSystem1を起動後、画像をキャプチャー。

System 1.0, Finder 1.0 (January 1984)は上記のとおり400KB-FDで、使用可能でしたが、

数ヶ月後にVersion-UpされたSystem 1.1, Finder 1.1g (May 1984)では800K-FDにも対応。

この時代、CPUやソフトの技術開発がめざましく、数ヶ月単位でVersion-Upが繰り広げられる。

まさしくパーソナルコンピュータの黎明期。それはMacにとってもWindoesにとっても。

Mac system error

ゲーム中も容赦なく爆弾に見舞われた。高得点なのに残念！！再起動を余儀なくされた。

メニューなどに使用されているフォントがChicagoであることがわかる。9インチモノクロ画面で見るこの肉厚にデザインされたフォントは本当に美しかった。後に知ったのですが、ChicagoやGenevaのMacintoshフォントのデザインはスーザン・ケアの手によるものだった。納得！納得！。

Chicago is a sans-serif font designed by Susan Kare for Apple Computer. It was used in the Macintosh operating system user interface between 1984 and 1997 and was an important part of Apple's brand identity. It is also used in early versions of the iPod user interface. While initially a bitmap font, Apple commissioned the type foundry Bigelow & Holmes to create a TrueType version, as the OS's capabilities improved. The typeface is named after the U.S. city of Chicago.

According to Susan Kare, Chicago was the first font to be developed for the Macintosh.

Alice

The Macintosh's first great game.

This game is officially named "Through the Looking Glass" and it was also called "Alice" when it first came out in 1984.
